Fall piano lessons begin (oh, yes, school does, too)

Aimee Ganster

By the end of August, I think that most of us are ready for a change of pace. The summer seems to have been so busy for everyone I know.

Now to settle down to fall routines (probably not any less busy than summer for most of us!). Some of my students have been able to continue lessons through the summer, but now most of the others are returning.

Not only will I continue to teach at B & B in Lewes, but I will also be teaching out of my home near Bethany Beach. Whether you're interested in lessons for yourself, a child or spouse, give me a call and let's discuss your interests and needs.

I teach piano lessons to students of all ages, and I design lessons based on the student's level and interests.

Children up to 12 years start with traditional lessons based on classical music. They learn basic music theory along with opportunities to develop creative skills in composition and playing by ear.

Older students 12 years and older learn basic note reading and also, based on their interests and the expectations of their parents, learn chords, playing by ear, composition and arranging.

Adult students are taught basic note reading and chord piano. They learn their favorite songs including jazz, blues, pop, gospel and more. If the student wants to learn classical music, that aspect of music will be stressed.

All of my students are encouraged and guided toward independence in playing the piano. Too often students take years of piano lessons but can't play anything without written music in front of them. Children, as well as adults, are creative and spontaneous, and I seek ways to cultivate that natural inclination in their lessons.

If you're interested in piano lessons, or you have been teaching yourself piano or keyboard and would like help, please email or call me and we can discuss your goals.
